Three area runners finish in the Top 5

REARDAN - Two Davenport girls and one Reardan boy finished in the Top 5 of the Northeast 2B league cross country meet here, punching their tickets to regionals.

Reardan senior Gabe Branstetter posted the fastest time among Lincoln County runners on the 5,000-meter course.

Branstetter took second in 17:02.00.

In the girls race, it was Davenport junior Josie Wynecoop and freshman Charlotte Soliday pacing local runners. Wynecoop finished third with a time of 20:41.30 and Soliday fourth in 20:57.80.

Wynecoop and Soliday were the only Lincoln County runners to finish in the Top 40.

Neither Davenport nor Reardan had enough girls competing to earn a team score.

St. George's won the girls league title with a low team score of 25, followed by Freeman in second with 80 points and Jenkins (Chewelah) third with 88.

St. George's also won the boys team title with a team low score of 58, followed by Jenkins with 62 and Freeman with 77.

Davenport was fourth with 110 team points and Reardan sixth with 119.

In the boys race,

Davenport senior Tommy Furman finished ninth with a time of 18:04.40. Meanwhile, junior teammate Kyler Davenport was 17th with a time of 18:42.20.

Davenport sophomores Jackson Guhlke was 26th in 19:27.90 and Kolby Kemmerer was 33rd in 19:51.40. Freshman Alex Wesselius was 39th in 20:44.90.

In addition to Branstetter, Reardan runner senior Jakari Singleton finished 11th in 18:25.60. Senior teammate Joey Matusik was 30th in 19:44.70.

In the junior varsity race, Reardan sophomore Alexander Matisuk finished seventh in 21:56.20 and teammate senior Pierson Board was 12th in 22:24.20.

Davenport's top JV runner was freshman Wayland Holmber, who finished 13th in 22:47.50, with freshman teammate Everett Prewitt 16th in 23:28.10.

The league meet also included a 1.5-mile race for middle schoolers.

Reardan eighth-grader Simon Sobotta finished sixth in that race in 10:10.10. Teammates eighth-graders Noah Chamber and Kacen Landreth were 11th and 12, respectively. They posted times of 10:21.90 and 10:23.50.

Davenport's fastest middle schooler was seventh-grader Jackson Henry, who finished 28th in 11:03.80.

In the girls middle school 1.5-mile event, Lincoln County runners were led by seventh-grader Addy O'Connell of Davenport in 11:21.20. Sixth-grader Addyson Chisterson was ninth for Davenport in 11:28.70.

Reardan's fastest middle school girl was sixth-grader Leilani Kasper, who finished 15th in 12:13.70.

Lincoln County's fastest high schoolers will advance to the 1B/2B and NEA Regional Cross Country Meet on Friday, Nov. 1, at Colfax Golf Club.

That meet gets underway at 11 a.m., with the top qualifiers advancing to the state Cross Country meet Nov. 9 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
