Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Playoffs begin

ODESSA — It’s playoffs time in Lincoln County in 8-man football.

And with three of the Top 8 teams in the state here, the postseason will be exciting, with crossover games slated for Friday, Nov. 8.

Odessa (6-2) will host Sunnyside Christian (4-5) on Friday night. Kickoff here is at 6 p.m.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline (7-2) will host the Dayton Bulldogs (4-4) at 7 p.m. in nearby Coulee City.

And nearby in Wilbur, the undefeated Wilbur-Creston Wildcats (9-0) will host the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves (3-5). Kickoff in Wilbur is also at 7 p.m.

Wilbur-Creston is ranked No. 2 in the state by the Associated Press and Almira/Coulee-Hartline is ranked No. 4. Odessa is the No. 8 team, having received poll votes, but never breaking into the Top 5 this season.

The outcomes of this Friday’s games, as well as other crossover games, will determine the post-season bracket.

Wilbur-Creston, Almira/Coulee-Hartline and Odessa are the No. 1-3 teams, respectively, in the Bi-County league.

That order was set last week when Odessa traveled to ACH, only to fall to the Warriors, 58-14. The Tigers only other loss this season was 78-54 to Wilbur Creston. Meanwhile, ACH’s two losses are to Wilbur-Creston and undefeated Liberty Christian (8-0), the No. 1-ranked team.
