Odessa opens playoffs at Pomeroy

Tigers look to advance to quarterfinals

ODESSA - After pounding Sunnyside Christian last week, the Odessa Tigers boys football team opens playoffs against Pomeroy on Friday night, Nov. 15.

The No. 11-ranked Tigers will travel to Pomeroy to play the No. 6-ranked Pirates on their home field. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The Tigers (7-2) reached the playoffs by knocking off the Knights 66-18 last Friday, Nov. 8, at home.

Pomeroy (9-1) defeated Cusick, 56-0, to reach the playoffs.

Odessa is the third of three teams out of the Northeast 1B league to reach the playoffs. Pomeroy is the top team out of the Southeast 1B-Wheat league.

The winner of this Friday's game will advance to the state quarterfinals and play the winner of the Naselle versus Moses Lake Christian-Covenant Christian Academy game taking place Nov. 15.

Naselle is ranked No. 3 in the state; Moses Lake-Covenant is ranked No. 14.

Other teams with Lincoln County players reaching the post-season are No. 2-ranked Wilbur-Creston and No. 4-ranked Almira/Coulee-Hartline.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline will face Inchelium at 4 p.m. Friday on Lions Field in Moses Lake. Immediately afterward on the same field, Wilbur-Creston will face No. 15-ranked Waterville-Mansfield at 7 p.m.
