Eagles win state play-in game

Soap Lake falls short in next two games

YAKIMA - The Soap Lake Eagles girls volleyball team overcame Pe Ell to get into the state 1B volleyball tournament.

But as the No. 13 seed, the Eagles faced a tough road and were eliminated in the third round of the tournament Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Yakima Valley SunDome.

Soap Lake reached main bracket after sweeping No. 20-seeded Pe Ell, 3-0.

Then the competition got real.

In their second game, the Soap Lake girls faced No. 4 Walla Walla Valley Academy. Walla Walla Valley swept the Eagles, 3-0, sending Soap Lake to the consolation bracket and a loser-out game.

Walla Walla Valley Academy would go on to finish fourth in the state tournament, and take home a trophy.

Soap Lake wouldn't be as lucky.

In the consolation round, the Eagles faced No. 12-seeded Willapa Valley. The Vikings won the game, 3-1, eliminating Soap Lake from the state tournament.
