Davenport girls defeat familiar foe

YAKIMA - The Gorillas were a long shot to win a state 2B volleyball trophy.
However, the No. 11-seeded Davenport girls weren't interested in the odds at the state tournament in the Yakima Valley SunDome. Instead, they focused on one game at a time.
And when the tournament was done Thursday, Nov. 14, the young Davenport team brought the seventh-place state 2B trophy home to Lincoln County.
"What a way to end our season," Coach Jill Morrison said. "We're going to bring home so hardware, which is so awesome."
Morrison said the team's "secret" goal all season was to win a trophy.
