Nearly $6,000 raised over past years
Cans collected by the Davenport Lions Club have raised nearly $6,000 in the past few years. All proceeds go back to the community.
DAVENPORT - The Davenport Lions Club has been busy collecting aluminum cans as part of an ongoing fundraising effort for the annual Kids Fishing Derby, which is held during Pioneer Days.
The program, which started as a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts, has grown over the years into a major service project for the Lions Club.
The fundraiser has been reportedly very successful, raising nearly $6,000 over the years.
All funds raised go directly to the kids fishing derby, which is a beloved event during Pioneer Days.
