TYLER — Icy conditions are being blamed for a fiery crash that blocked Interstate 90 early Thursday morning, Dec. 5.
The crash occurred at about 8:36 a.m.
According to the state Department of Transportation, a fuel tanker truck overturned and burst into flames. The crash and fire prompted the closure of the interstate in both directions.
The Washington State Patrol closed the interstate between Mileposts 264-276. Detours around the crash area were in place at press time. The crash came as freezing rain was blanketing the area, Transportation officials said, noting multiple crashes and slide-offs had been reported.
No other details were available at press time.
