PUBLIC NOTICE

Rate Increase Announcement - Effective January Billing Cycle 2025

To: City of Davenport Utility Customers

The Davenport City Council recognizes its fiduciary responsibility to the customers it serves, and its duty to maintain the water and sewer systems for present and future customers. To facilitate these obligations, the Council finds it necessary to incorporate a rate increase; residential water will be increased by 3% on all monthly service rates. This increase is effective on all bills mailed on or after February 1, 2025. The increase will ensure the continuation of necessary infrastructure improvements and cover increased operating costs. Presently, the average monthly water charge is $38.85 (1,000cf) for customers. Depending on the water usage of the customer, this rate will increase the average annual residential cost by $14.00 per year plus tax.

Commercial and residential sewer rates will be increased 1% on all monthly services rates. This increase is effective on all bills mailed on or after February 1, 2025. The average residential sewer customer currently is charged $35.58 per ERU. Depending on the customer, this rate adjustment will increase the average annual residential cost by approximately $4.50 per year plus tax.

Commercial and residential garbage will be increased 12.18% on all monthly service rates due to a contractual increase by Sunshine Disposal. This rate increase is effective on all bills mailed on or after February 1, 2025. Presently, the average monthly residential 32-gallon tote garbage service charge is $20.57. Depending on the usage of the customer, this annual rate adjustment will increase the annual residential cost by $22.00 per year.

All rate adjustments per customer use can be viewed at Davenport City Hall.
