Spam calls reported in county

DAVENPORT — Reports have surfaced of a local business and a county resident receiving phone calls from an individual claiming to be a “lieutenant,” giving commands and making unusual demands.

The incidents, although unrelated, share several similarities.

Authorities have clarified that neither the FBI, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, nor any other law enforcement agency will make phone calls to give verbal commands or issue demands. While it is not uncommon to receive follow-up calls from law enforcement agencies, such calls will never involve direct commands or demands.

Anyone who receives a suspicious phone call from someone claiming to be from the FBI, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, or any other law enforcement agency is urged to contact dispatch at 509-725-3501 to verify the call’s legitimacy or to file a report.
