MacLaren, Dunn and Esvelt crowned
HUNTERS - Three young women have been crowned as the 2025 Hunters Community Fair Royalty Court following a rigorous selection process.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Hunters Community Fair crowned its new reign of royalty. The 2025 Hunters Community Fair Theme is "Over the mountain to the fair we go."
Contestants were required to complete an application and submit a short biography. They were then invited, along with their families, to a royalty dinner and interview event.
Each participant introduced themselves to the guests before being evaluated in private interviews conducted by three judges from the Stevens County community.
The judges selected the royalty court based on the contestants' applications, biographies, interviews, poise, and mannerisms. Nine contestants vied for the titles this year, making the judges' decision particularly challenging.
Princess Alyna Adair MacLaren represents the fifth generation of her family in the Hunters community. She is the daughter of Boden and Kayla MacLaren and serves as president of her eighth-grade class at Columbia School in Hunters.
Alyna enjoys road trips, camping, mushroom picking, fishing, gardening, and beachcombing with her grandmother Tina. She aspires to major in marine biology, document her adventures and discoveries, and publish books.
Princess Sloane Dunn has cherished her connection to the Hunters community since infancy, often staying at her family's cabin and swimming in the lake.
She moved to the area two years ago and is homeschooled. An eighth-grader, Sloane has served as secretary of the Stranger Creek Junior Grange for two years.
She is also a dedicated Irish dancer with the Haran School of Irish Dance in Kettle Falls. Her hobbies include swimming, participating in fairs, and hunting with her father.
Audrey Esvelt is this year's Hunters Community Fair Queen, stepping up from her role as a princess last year.
A fifth-generation resident of Daisy, she is a Kettle Falls High School sophomore. Audrey is an active member of the FFA, currently serving as her chapter's secretary, and the Hunters Community 4-H Club, where she is in her second term as treasurer.
With eight years of showing experience, she exhibits market steers and yearling heifers at both the Hunters Community Fair and the Northeast Washington Fair.
Outside of 4-H and FFA, Audrey enjoys horseback riding, swimming, skiing, and ice skating. She also competes in track and field.
Judges praised the contestants for their hard work, dedication, and strong eye contact.
Audrey, in particular, was impressed with her bold confidence.
