Wilbur-Creston takes gold

REARDAN - Girl wrestlers from Reardan and Wilbur-Creston showcased strong performances at the weekend Powerhouse wrestling tournament at Lake Roosevelt Highschool, Coulee City, Wash., on Saturday, Dec. 21, claiming multiple top placements in their respective weight classes.

Here are the results:

Maeve Belsby of Liberty Bell secured first place in the 105-pound weight class, followed by Khloe Denison of Tonasket in second and Nelly Selam of Lake Roosevelt in third. Belsby dominated with a fall over Denison in 1:35 during the final round.

In the 115-pound weight class, Marley Morton of Tonasket emerged victorious, pinning Mazie Gibb of Liberty Bell in 3:53 for the title. Gibb placed second, while Raeshelle Keatts of Tekoa-Rosalia finished third.

Lillian Monaghan of Wilbur-Creston claimed the 120-pound championship by pinning Feather Martinez of White Swan in just 33 seconds. Izzabel Cruz of Tonasket secured third place with a win over Evelyn Hein of Cle Elum-Roslyn.

Nova Gehring of Liberty Bell earned first place in the 125-pound category with two victories by fall over Hailey Harvey of Wilbur-Creston.

In the 130-pound division, Heather Wyborney of Wilbur-Creston took the title, defeating teammate Skyla Jensen in 2:31. Carmen Pacheco of Tonasket earned third place by pinning Jazmyne Castleberry of Cle Elum-Roslyn.

Kadence Hammer of Liberty Bell won the 135-pound title, pinning Payton Bain of Cle Elum-Roslyn in 1:52. Bain finished second, and Skyler Olson, also of Cle Elum-Roslyn, placed third.

Dixie Williams of Tonasket claimed first place in the 140-pound division, pinning Justinarose Azure of White Swan in 45 seconds.

Tru Jack of Lake Roosevelt placed third with a win over Emery Blakeslee of Cle Elum-Roslyn.

SunRae Monaghan of Wilbur-Creston won the 145-pound category, defeating Sienna Atchison of Lake Roosevelt in 5:57. Karter Mae Wheeler of White Swan finished third, and Eleanor Terry of Tekoa-Rosalia placed fourth.

In the 155-pound weight class, Emily Shiles of Tonasket secured first place by pinning teammate Rylenn Summers in 1:30. Abygail Vargas of Lake Roosevelt took third place with a quick 16-second fall over Paige Westphal of Liberty Bell.

Danika Bretz of Reardan won the 170-pound division with a fall over Selma Lewandowski of Lake Roosevelt in 1:55. Addison Cannon of Lake Roosevelt finished third, defeating Myleigh Benham of Reardan.

Alexis "Lulu" Taylor of Tekoa-Rosalia dominated the 190-pound category, pinning Bethany Queahpama of White Swan in 48 seconds and securing a technical fall in their second matchup.

Rainna Jo Castilleja of White Swan claimed the 235-pound title unopposed, receiving byes in both rounds.
