Reardan wins by 57 points

REARDAN - Seven boys scored nine or more points in the Screaming Eagles 95-38 rout of Kettle Falls Friday, Dec. 20. The win improved Reardan's record to 7-0 heading into next week's Lions Club Christmas Tournament.

The Screaming Eagles' long range shooting was on display as the team converted 10 3-point shots during the game. Justin Vaughn made four, Evan Krupke made three, Maveric Sobotta made two and Hunter Flaa made one.

Vaughn scored 13 first half points and Jakari Singleton added nine to give the Screaming Eagles a 49-19 halftime lead.

Reardan head coach Jake Green substituted freely in the second half, but his team didn't miss a step. Fred Frolov dominated on both ends of the court and scored 12 points. Reardan led 70-32 after three quarters and won the game 95-38.

Vaughn and Frolov tied for scoring honors with 16 points each. Frolov also pulled down seven rebounds and recorded two steals and a blocked shot. Singleton scored 13 points, to go with seven rebounds and four steals. Rysen Soliday had 12 points and six rebounds. Krupke and Sobotta scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Sobotta also had two rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot. Hunter Flaa scored nine points and cousins Bryson and Karsten Flaa each scored two points. Levi Collier scored four points and grabbed three rebounds.

Mace Thivierge scored 18 points for Kettle Falls.

"We were sound and our defense captured them in the corners," Frolov said. "We played hard and fast paced which led to some easy baskets. That's the way we do it. One thing we did well tonight was to get our hands in the passing lanes on defense. I think Hunter Flaa and Karsten Flaa played especially well tonight. They got back on defense and had the guts to do the hard work for us."

Green was pleased with the win but noted areas the team needed to improve.

"We were late on some of our assignments and fell asleep on ball screens, but we did better than we have been," he said. "Our intensity and denying the ball was better tonight, but we struggled to block out. It was nice that our second and third groups got in there and kept it up. It was a fun game."

The win improved the Screaming Eagles record to 7-0. Kettle Falls fell to 1-6.

Reardans next game will be in the Lions Club Christmas Tournament Friday, Dec. 27. They will play Lake Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m.
