Deputy Becker busts active burglars
SPRAGUE - A local man appeared in Superior Court for a motion and affidavit hearing to determine probable cause, direct issuance of a warrant and set bail in Lincoln County Superior Court.
Jason Trickel, 45, of Sprague, is facing one count of second-degree burglary, with bail set at $100,000.
The charges stem from an October 22 incident reported at 9:02 a.m. where Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Kody Becker received a call stating that Thomas Pelley contacted the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office regarding a suspicious truck towing a trailer without working lights.
The vehicle had reportedly pulled into a field near a cell tower site on Newark McAbee Road before approaching the tower.
According to court documents, Pelley informed the tower's owner, who confirmed that no one was authorized to be on the property.
A "No Trespassing" sign was posted at the gate.
Reports say deputies responding to the scene found two individuals, Joshua M. True, 44, and Justin C. Himes, 48, exiting a building with headlamps on. Himes was carrying a backpack containing a yellow Dewalt cordless bandsaw and other tools.
Investigators discovered the door handle to the building had been sawed off, with the handle later found in a vehicle driven by Trickel, True and Himes.
Trickel reportedly fled the building but was apprehended. Authorities stated he was in possession of burglary tools.
Court documents show Himes had an active no-bail warrant from Morrow County, Oregon, for a probation violation and a history of eluding police, carrying concealed weapons and reckless driving.
True has a record of arrests for theft, burglary, and failure to appear in court.
Trickel's criminal history includes multiple active warrants for failure to appear, including cases of unauthorized vehicle use and theft. He also has caution alerts for carrying firearms, eluding police and obstruction.
His Oregon criminal record reportedly includes 47 prior arrests.
Trickel last appeared in court on November 26 before Superior Court Judge Bardull. A jury trial is scheduled for January 22, 2025, at 9 a.m.
