DAVENPORT – The visiting Liberty Lancers defeated the Gorillas 35-21 in a duel wrestling meet Tuesday, Jan. 21 in the high school gymnasium.
In the opening match, Liberty's 157 pounder Jeff Marburger pinned Davenport's Chase Greenwood.
In the 190 pound weight class, defending state champion Brock Gustaveson outscored Liberty's Joey Matherly and won via technical fall, earning the Gorillas five points.
"I did pretty good tonight," Gustaveson said. "I was looking for the pin at the end but unfortunately didn't get it."
Matherly moved up from the 175 pound weight class to face Gustaveson.
