DAVENPORT – Reardan defeated the Gorillas 83-47 on Senior Night in Tommy and Jacob Furman's last home game Tuesday, Feb. 4. The Screaming Eagles ended the regular season 19-1 and earned the No. 1 seed in the NE2B District 6 Boys Basketball Tournament. Rysen Soliday led the Screaming Eagles with 23 points.
The Gorillas gave Reardan all it could handle in the first period, outscoring them 19-17. Jacob Furman paced the Gorillas with seven first quarter points.
Reardan found its footing in the second quarter, outscoring Davenport 22-7 to take a 39-26 lead. The Screaming Eagles stretched their lead to 30 points in the third quarter enroute to the 83-47 win.
Maveric Sobotta and Justin Vaughn both made four 3-point baskets and scored 16 points. Jakari Singleton scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds to go along with three steals and three blocked shots. Zander Thornton scored six points. Evan Krupke and Hunter Flaa scored five and three points, respectively.
Caige Colbert scored 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Gorillas. Jacob Furman scored nine points. Bennet Wagner scored five points and Tommy Furman had four points and 11 rebounds. Titus Lathrop and Joel Odenrider scored three and two points, respectively.
Reardan coach Jake Green was not pleased with his team's slow start.
"We got caught up in the moment," he said. "We stopped being disciplined and did uncharacteristic stuff. We were locked in better in the second quarter and woke up in the second half."
Green was complimentary of Davenport's team.
"They are very well coached," he said. "They are never going to stop. Their coach (Matt Henry) has them doing what they need to do. I have tons of respect for him. He does a really good job."
Both teams play in the District 6 2B Boys Basketball Tournament at West Valley High School. Davenport will play Lind-Ritzville-Sprague on Monday, Feb. 10 at 5:00 p.m. No. 1 seed Reardan will play Thursday Feb. 13 at 3:30 p.m.
