Davenport FBLA advances to state

Gorillas showcase strong regional performance

DAVENPORT - Twenty-five members of Davenport High School's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) have qualified for the state competition following a successful showing at the regional conference last week.

Competitors who placed in the top six of their events earned automatic bids to the state level, with multiple individuals and teams securing first-place finishes.

Malachi Hoff placed fourth in Accounting I and fourth in Securities & Investments.

Selah Hupp finished sixth in Business Communication.

Tessa Cormier and Josie Wynecoop took first place in Business Ethics, while Wynecoop also placed fourth in Business Law. Sawyer Raugust earned third place in Client Service.

In Graphic Design, Caige Colbert, Kyler Davenport, and Joel Odenrider placed fifth.

Fiona Strozyk finished fifth in Health Care Administration and third in Introduction to Public Speaking.

Jack Rinaldi placed fourth in Help Desk and, alongside Caleb Han, took fourth in Website Design.

Clare Lathrop placed third in Hospitality & Event Management.

Paige Van Buren placed fifth in Introduction to Business Procedures and secured a first-place finish in Introduction to Event Planning. Tecumseh Wilt finished fifth in Introduction to Information Technology, while Anna Ordorica placed sixth in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure.

Beau Copenhaver placed fifth in Job Interview, and Tessa Cormier finished sixth in the same event.

Alyssa Breedlove placed fifth in Journalism and secured first place in Visual Design.

Chloe Hammond, Selah Hupp, and Tatum Hupp placed first in Public Service Announcement.

In Sales Presentation, Beau Copenhaver and Malachi Hoff finished second, while Clare Lathrop, Faith Bell, and Naomi Rainwater placed third. Selah Hupp, Tatum Hupp, and Faith Bell took first place in Social Media Strategies, while Chloe Hammond, McCall Knopp, and Isabelle Sosa placed second in the same category.

Davenport's FBLA members will now prepare for the upcoming state competition.
