DAVENPORT - The Winter Little Cheer Camp, held earlier this season, proved to be a successful senior culminating project and fundraiser for cheerleader Nevaeh Farrens.
As part of her senior project, Nevaeh worked closely with her mentor, cheer coach Sadra Danekas, to organize the camp for pre-K through 5th-grade students.
Nevaeh took charge of choreographing the dances and cheers while fellow varsity cheerleaders assisted in teaching the moves over two days.
The camp saw about 30 young participants who learned and practiced their routines, culminating in a performance during Saturday's halftime of the varsity boys' basketball game.
With approximately $600 raised, the event showcased the cheerleading program and helped fund future team activities.
Davenport High School Cheer is committed to hosting at least one Little Cheer Camp each fall and winter to generate interest in the cheer program and provide financial support for the team.
