Man honored as Volunteer Chaplain of the Year

Pat Hogan to receive recognition

REARDAN - A local man, longtime pastor, and community volunteer has been named Spokane Volunteer Chaplain of the Year.

Pat Hogan, 73, has served as a chaplain for over 15 years in Tacoma before continuing his work in Reardan.

He is part of a rotation of 20 to 23 volunteer chaplains who provide support 24/7.

"Chaplains are called to emergency scenes to help the families with whatever they need, which often includes helping with funeral arrangements or notifying other family members," Hogan said. "They do things for the police department, and it is a cool thing to serve."
