Sage Marketplace re-opens at new Davenport location

A new place to get lunch and shop

DAVENPORT A new store, Sage Marketplace, has opened in Davenport, offering home décor, furniture, clothing, gifts, food and a bakery.

Abbie Williamson, the niece of owner Mary Schownfelder, helps run the market.

"We started the store originally in a different building at the end of 2020," Williamson said. "And then we went to pop-ups for two years, and then we decided we wanted another store and wanted to open before Valentine's Day."

The store officially opened Thursday, Feb. 13. It offers a consignment deal where used clothing can be dropped off and sold. Pending acceptance and sale, the business and the seller split the profits from clothing sales.

"It's a modern style with some vintage," Schownfelder said.

Williamson said the store has been steady since opening.

"We have seen lots of people that we have seen at our pop-ups and old store," she said.

Schownfelder added that opening day went well and that she is excited to shop and find new items to sell.

The store, which opened just before Valentine's Day, offered special floral bouquets, holiday packages, Valentine's cookies and cake.

"Yes! And there will be soups and salads and sandwiches at the bakery," Schownfelder said.

Sage Marketplace is located at 407 Morgan Street. and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The business does not yet have a phone number set up but can be found on Facebook and Instagram.
