Teen PIE hosts western Valentine's party

REARDAN - Teen PIE, a newly established community program focused on fostering connections between teens and parents, hosted a Valentine's-themed event featuring crafts, line dancing, karaoke, and an indoor snowball fight.

The event, held as part of the group's monthly initiative, included Valentine card-making, cookie decorating, and friendship bracelet kits.

Food was available for purchase to help fund future gatherings.

Teen PIE-short for Partners In Education-aims to provide mentorship, coping skills, and safe, fun activities for teenagers while also offering parenting advice and, eventually, family counseling.

"The teenage years can be difficult with the developmental stage of independence and with all the hormone changes," said organizer Tawnja Monek. "Focus on teen PIE is to build connections between peers and parents. Mentorship, coping skills, safe, fun activities and crafts, parenting advice and eventually family counseling."

The program, which launched this year, currently operates through donations.

Organizers hope to continue hosting events on a monthly basis.

Next month's theme is expected to be sports related.
