• Passenger service has been suspended between Davenport and Hunters. Not enough passengers were using the service to make any profit. Freight service will continue.
• More than $2,000,000 was collected by the State Treasurer for automobile license in January setting a record. The licensing and gas tax go into a state highway fund.
• The Washington Water Power crew stationed at Odessa for the past two months has completed the job in this area and is breaking camp and moving to their next location. This is all part of the Long Lake to Ephrata transmission line project.

• Odessa Trading Company held its annual shareholders meeting last Saturday. Dividends in the total amount of $62,131.76 were distributed. This included a 5 percent patronage dividend.
• 4 year old Linda Willkeson fell into the swollen waters of Cottonwood Creek near the Kahse cabins and was carried down stream where she was rescued by Jed Pendell near the Davenport Machine Shop.
• Reardan boys Basketball team defeated the Harrington boys to earn the Bi-County title. The 50-45 match was hard fought. The leading scorer for Reardan was F. Schulz with 19 total points and Harrington’s L. Schuh had a total of 15 points.

• A 90% sales growth with a 47% expenditure increase and a 263.5% increase in profits was recently reported by Odessa Grange Supply during its annual meeting of patrons.
• Reardan and Edwall patrons discussed consolidating the districts at a special hearing. The largest item of consideration is how assets and liabilities will be handled. Also discussed is how to make the most of the room available for classes.
• A transistor radio was missing when police recovered a pickup belonging to Chuck and Carol Stevens of Davenport. The pickup was located near Miles 3 days after being reported stolen.
• 13 oz. can of Evaporated Milk $0.25, Fresh Ground Beef $0.58 per pound.

• Davenport’s Lady Gorillas secured a trip to the State Tournament last week when they defeated Sprague-Harrington Falcons to win the District Championship. The Lady Gorillas go into the State Tournament as 4th seed.
• Lincoln County had a low voter turnout for the recent Presidential Primary. A total of 1485 votes were cast for Presidential candidates by Lincoln County voters. There are a total of 6684 registered voters in the County.
• The Odessa Lion’s Club is turning over the operation of concessions at sport events due to a lack of cooperation from students. The Lion’s planned to donate $1000 to the ASB for the students helping in the stand but less than 50% of the scheduled students actually showed up to help.

• Scott Heimbigner was selected to receive free fuel from the Tanks of Thanks program sponsored by CHS and Cenex. The program rewards people who do good deeds to make their community better.
• The Lincoln County Economic Development Council is hosting a forum to address the daycare shortage in the Davenport area. Daycare providers and families with childcare needs are encouraged to attend.
