Virginia May Pierce

Virginia May Pierce, 91, of Chewelah, Wash. died on Feb. 16, 2025, at Touchmark on South Hill Senior Living Facility in Spokane, Wash. She was born June 15, 1933, in Davenport, Wash. to Herman Claude Scheibner and Effie Virginia Funk Scheibner. She attended public school in Davenport, graduating from Davenport High School in 1951.
On July 23, 1961, she was married in Davenport to Donald G. Pierce of Chewelah, Wash. His parents were Nelson S Pierce and Oleta Williams Pierce. At that time, Donald lived and worked in Davenport and the newlywed couple continued to live there after their marriage.
Virginia was employed for a number of years by Lincoln County, working in the County Auditor's office at the Lincoln County Courthouse, and later by the department of Social and Health Services office in Davenport. She retired in 1982. In 1983 she and Donald moved from Davenport to Chewelah, where Don continued his career with the Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her two brothers, James Scheibner of Albuquerque, NM and William Scheibner of Kennewick, Wash. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Virginia loved the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping, as well as gardening and growing flowers. She liked animals and had many pet cats through the years. In later years, she especially enjoyed growing houseplants. She and her beloved husband, Don, enjoyed many deer hunting excursions together, as well as many camping trips to fish or pick huckleberries.
Final services will be held at Danekas Funeral Chapel (402 East Main, Chewelah WA, 99109) at 10:00 a.m. on March 8, 2025. She will be buried alongside her husband in the Chewelah Memorial Park Cemetery. Any donations in her memory should be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
