Viral TikTok band coming to town
HARRINGTON – The Harrington Chamber of Commerce met on Monday, with Mayor Joe Armand in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 4:19 p.m.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved without additions to the agenda. The treasurer's report was also approved, with an overall balance of $38,511.46 and $3,594.60 in uncategorized expenses.
Members discussed recent and upcoming community events. The Harrington Mercantile recently reopened, and the chamber announced a concert scheduled for March 29 in the dining room of the historic Electric Hotel. The Brudi Brothers, a recently viral TikTok trio known for their old-time country music, will perform. Their most popular song "Me more cowboy than you" has near 50,000 posts on TikTok alone, with millions of views. The song also has almost 8 million plays on Spotify. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Preparations for the Vintage Country Fair, scheduled for June 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., are underway.
A band has been hired, and 13 vendors have signed up so far, including food trucks and a produce vendor. Booths will be available both inside and outside, with room for additional vendors.
In other business, the chamber approved a motion to allocate $150 for the front page of the newsletter. A discussion was also held regarding the Country Backroads Map.
Additional community events include the Lions Club Dinner, which will feature German sausage, baked beans, potato and macaroni salad, and desserts.
The Glow Ball Tournament is set for May 9, and the Harrington Golf Course will open for the season on April 1.
The city recently rebuilt and repainted benches around town with new wood.
