RITZVILLE — The Davenport girls fastpitch softball team opened the 2025 season with a doubleheader loss on the road March 14.
The Gorillas fell to the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos in the opener, 8-0, and in the nightcap, 25-17.
The Broncos pretty much ran away with the first game, shutting out the Davenport Gorillas, 8-0.
But the Davenport girls’ bats came alive in the first inning of the nightcap, forcing the Broncos to chase them down.
In the end, the Broncos won, 25-17, on their home fielding.
Davenport Coach Lindsey Kruger said this was her young team’s first game of the season.
