In addition to competitive success, Odessa FBLA completed Project IMPACT, an initiative aimed at educating students about the American Enterprise System and the essential role of small businesses in the local economy.
High school students Jordyn Lewis, Serenity Hicks, Izaak Schmierer, Kolter Watson, and Cannon Roberson led the project by researching and interviewing Odessa business owners.
Through these interviews, they gained firsthand insights into how small businesses drive job creation, support economic growth, and strengthen the community.
The team then mentored fifth-grade students, teaching them about the importance of shopping locally and the impact of entrepreneurship. Local businesses such as Wild Roots and Odessa Trading Company were highlighted as examples of enterprises that provide jobs, sponsor events, and invest in the community.
Fifth-grade students participated in interactive activities, creating their own small businesses and learning the value of supporting local enterprises.
Odessa FBLA will present Project IMPACT at the FBLA State Leadership Conference, showcasing their research, outreach, and community engagement efforts.
