Reardan man seeks bond reduction

Trial postponed; continued again in court

REARDAN — A local man accused of threatening to kill his family and attempting arson is seeking a bond reduction as his trial date is pushed to May.

Nicholas Gene Finch, 39, appeared in Lincoln County Superior Court, where his defense requested a reduction of his $20,000 bond to $10,000.

The state opposed the motion, citing Finch’s history of warrant activity and concerns from the victims, who reportedly expressed fear over his potential release.

Attorneys also requested a continuance in the case, with a new trial date set for May 14 and a readiness hearing scheduled for April 15.

Finch previously pleaded not guilty to felony harassment with a threat to kill and attempted first-degree arson. Prosecutors allege he sent multiple threatening text messages, including one stating, “I’ll kill this whole house full of people then burn it down—kids and all.”

During his arrest, Finch allegedly told the deputy that he had not taken his medication for several days and added, “You can’t arrest me for murder because I haven’t murdered anyone.”

He remains in custody under a domestic violence no-contact order.
