Screaming Eagles fall to Bulldogs
COLFAX, Wash. - In the first games of the season, the Reardan Screaming Eagles softball team dropped a pair of matchups against the Colfax Bulldogs on Thursday, March 20.
The Screaming Eagles fell to the Bulldogs, 18-10, in Game 1 and lost Game 2, 25-1.
In the first game of the day, Colfax jumped to a 10-1 lead, scoring three runs in the first inning and seven in the second while holding Reardan to one run in the second frame.
Reardan scored one run in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the sixth, but Colfax managed to score two in the fourth, one in the fifth and five of its own in the sixth.
Kaylynn Clouse and Lillie Whitman and Kira Hoff each scored two runs for the Screaming Eagles with Clouse bringing home two RBI.
Shyla Nortz took the loss for Reardan, pitching all six innings, allowing 18 runs on 18 hits and walking eighth batters.
In Game 2, the Screaming Eagles scored in the second inning, but it was all they could muster as the Colfax bats flew, scoring 25 runs on 19 hits through five innings played, instigating the mercy rule.
Hoff scored the lone run for Reardan.
Hoff pitched for three innings, allowing 21 runs on 17 hits, walking six batters and striking out three. Clouse pitched one inning, allowing four runs on two hits and walking four batters.
The Screaming Eagles fell to 0-2 on the season and next played the Davenport Gorillas for a single at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 25.
