Mrs. Will Herman was struck and killed by a westbound train in Edwall. Mrs. C. Umbewurst who was with Mrs. Herman was also struck and taken to Reardan General Hospital where her recovery is doubtful.
Effective April 1, the county auditor will pay bounties on Coyotes $1.00, Cougars $20.00, Lynx and wild cats $5.00, Timberwolves $15.00. Pelts must be brought to the auditors office within 30 days of the kill.
Several dogs have been poisoned in Odessa recently. It was thought that the dogs were eating rabbits that had been poisoned but a piece of pork containing poison was found and it is suspected that someone is intentionally putting poison out.

Davenport Auction Company will hold its annual horse sale next week. Pleasure, saddle, shetland and work horses will be auctioned off by Bill Hutsell. According to organizers this will be the only horse sale this spring.
Fifty Edwall residents and farmers created the base for the new Edwall playfield. Work began in the morning and was completed by 6 p.m. Nine bulldozers and four tractors made quick work of the 300X350 foot tract.
50 green ash trees and 50 black locust trees were recently planted at Finney Field. Students from Odessa schools assisted county farm agents in planting the trees.

The Department of Ecology has issued new irrigation guidelines for the Odessa Groundwater Sub Area. Groundwater for irrigation is only allowed from April 1 until October 31. A 30 day before or after permit may be obtained through a permitting process.
Darla Boleneus was chosen as the 1975 fair queen. Darla was one of 13 girls competing for the honor. She was crowned by outgoing 1974 fair queen Sally Ott.
The state board of education has approved a merger between Reardan and Edwall schools. The matter will be put to voters on May 20th. If the vote is favorable the consolidation would take effect July 1.

Davenport Gorilla Batsmen are off to a great season. They recently had a double header in Almira and won both games in 6 innings by the 10 run rule. The team’s record this year so far is 6-1.
2 Reardan musicians were honored at the All-State band and choir competition in Yakima. Freshman Amanda Moore was the youngest flautist at the competition and Brian McDougall , a sophomore, was honored for his bass singing.
Odessa town clerk Sharon Hester is retiring after 25 years in the clerk’s office. Sharon and her husband Jack have sold their home and plan to travel in their motor home for the rest of their lives.

Davenport’s City-wide clean up day is just a week away. Residents can take general waste, construction waste, old appliances and scrap metal to the Transfer Station at no cost during this event.
Odessa High School Senior, Carsen Weber has been awarded a national ROTC full-ride scholarship. He plans to use it at the University of Washington where he has already been accepted.
