Davenport internet speeds to increase
Davenport – High-speed 5G WiFiber internet will go live in Davenport on May 5, providing residents with faster and more reliable connectivity.
"We are launching May 5," said Shane Monroy, a technician of WiFiber. "We have a sign-up portal online. People can be proactive and sign up with us and check our website. We have a pretty big list of people waiting for fiber or wireless customers. May 5 we are going to start going live."
WiFiber has already expanded its services to several rural communities, including Wilbur, Almira, Creston, and Harrington.
The company plans to be in Davenport for about a month to complete installations.
"The process is pretty simple," Monroy explained. "We have a couple crews. We have an outside crew, so we will string the cable from the pole and then put it inside the house. We will attach a box to the house and then install a router inside. It is pretty quick and painless. Our goal is as many in a day we can-10 to 15 installs a day."
WiFiber's fiber-optic technology offers significant speed upgrades compared to existing copper networks, with the potential for speeds up to ten times faster.
The company is offering incentives such as a free month of service and a free router, with no installation charges. Customers can also use their own routers if preferred.
Marcus Munn, the owner of WiFiber, emphasized the significance of the expansion.
"As a locally owned and operated internet service provider, expanding our fiber infrastructure is a major milestone-one that reinforces our commitment to delivering fast, reliable connectivity with a strong focus on customer service," Munn said. "Bringing fiber to towns like Spangle and Lamont means more than just high-speed internet; it's about empowering local homes and businesses with the technology they need to thrive."
WiFiber, based in Tekoa, Wash., has been providing wireless and fiber-optic internet service to rural communities in Spokane, Whitman, and Lincoln counties since 2011.
The company is continuing to expand its fiber network to more communities.
