Speedsters shine at Colville invitational

COLVILLE – The Reardan boys track team led by seniors Gabe Branstetter, Evan Krupke and Jakari Singleton scored 69 points to place fourth out of 15 schools at the Ezra Gordon Invitational on Saturday, March 29 at the high school. The girls track team scored 24 points and placed ninth in the girls' competition.

Branstetter and Krupke were named Male MVPs with their performances. Branstetter scored 20 points after winning the 400-meter run with a time of 51.93 and the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.54. Krupke also scored 20 points after winning the long jump with a personal best of 20 feet, 10 inches and the triple jump with a jump of 40 feet, six inches.

Branstetter, Krupke, Jakari Singleton and Blake Wynecoop also teamed up to win the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:34.93. With the win, each athlete earned 2.5 points for the Screaming Eagles.

Singleton placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.04 seconds to pick up five points. He also placed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best of 44.93 seconds to earn five more team points.

James Nilles placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 116 feet, six inches, to score three points.

Treyson Singleton picked up two points with a seventh place finish and a personal best of 56.53 seconds in the 400-meter run and Elijah Bentley scored one point by placing eight in the same event. His time was 56.67 seconds. Wyatt Colvin scored one point with his eighth place finish in the shot put with a distance of 38 feet, nine inches.

The team of Bentley, Bret Wilson, Gavin Wynecoop and Brody Jones placed seventh in the 4x100 meter run with a time of 48.42 seconds to earn two points.

Marrin Landreth led the Screaming Eagles girls in scoring by placing in three events. She jumped 14 feet, seven and one-half inches to place third in the long jump, scoring six points. She and Makayla Cheyne tied for eighth in the high jump at four feet, four inches to each earn one-half point.

Cheyne also scored three points by placing sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:09.34.

The team of Katelyn Vaughn, Zoey Brisbois, Ashley Newman and Landreth ran the 4x100-meter relay in 59.99 seconds to place sixth, earning Reardan three points.

Kelsey Koch picked up a fourth place finish and five points with a throw of 83 feet, 2 inches in the javelin. Vaughn placed seventh with a throw of 78 feet, 11 inches to earn two points.

Avery Casselberry scored four points with her 30 feet, five inches effort in the shot put for a fifth place finish.

The Screaming Eagles will participate in the Glenn Wolfe Invitational on Friday, April 4, in Deer Park
