REARDAN - After being tied 12-12 at the end of regulation play, Chewelah scored four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Screaming Eagles 16-12 Tuesday, April 15.
Reardan pitcher Shyla Nortz walked three batters in the first inning and the Cougars pushed two runners across home plate with three singles to take an early 2-0 lead.
In the second inning the Screaming Eagles scored six runs on singles by Natalya Hahn, Kylynn Clouse, Lillie Whitman and Rylynn Green and a double by Hadley Landreth to put Reardan on top 6-2.
Both teams were scoreless in the third inning.
In the fourth inning Clouse scored another run to put Reardan ahead 7-3. In the fifth and sixth innings, Clouse and Olivia Wicks both scored to extend Reardan's lead, but Chewelah's bats came alive. The Cougars scored five runs to tie the tie the score 9-9.
In the top of the seventh inning, Chewelah scored three runs to jump to a 12-9 lead.
In the Screaming Eagle's half of the inning, Hahn, Green and Tayen Zagorski each scored to knot the game at 12-12 which sent the game into extra innings.
Chewelah outscored Reardan 4-0 in the eighth inning to win the game 16-12.
The Cougars out hit the Screaming Eagles 16-10. Clouse had three hits for Reardan.
With the loss, Reardan dropped to 4-6. The Screaming Eagles' next home game is Tuesday, April 22, against Newport.
