Quilt Show, Car Show, and more on deck
ODESSA — The 31st Annual Odessa Spring Fling will take place this weekend, bringing together a variety of events including a quilt show, car show, town-wide yard sale and an adult dance.
The festivities are set to kick off on Friday, April 25, and will run through Saturday, April 26, offering something for everyone in this small community.
The event schedule for the weekend includes the Spring Fling Quilt Show, which will be held at the Odessa High School Gym on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The show features local quilters and vendors, with this year’s featured artist being Robin Long of Robin Ruth Designs. Long’s focus is on making the intricate Mariners Compass quilt pattern more accessible through specialized tools.
Laura Estes, a member of the quilt show committee, noted that the quilt show has become a destination event, attracting visitors from as far away as California and Canada.
“We are the best little quilt show in the state of Washington,” Estes said. “This year, we’re excited to feature Robin Long, who has developed tools that make Mariners Compass easier to create.”
The show will also feature eight vendor spaces, including long-time participants like Toasty’s from Kirkland and newcomers such as Heavenly Quilts and Fabrics Redeemed.
The Odessa Town-Wide Yard Sale will also be a key part of the weekend. The sale map will be available online, on Facebook, and in paper form around town. Two major yard sales will benefit local causes: one will support the Odessa Restoration Society, while another will benefit the Youth Program at Christ Lutheran Church. Shan Manckle, of Washington Federal, is responsible for organizing the yard sale map. The sale will run all weekend, with shoppers finding deals throughout town.
On Saturday night, the Odessa Fire Department will host an adult dance, featuring the live band Bad Landz from the Tri-Cities. The dance, which is for adults aged 21 and over, will take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Fire Hall. Attendees can enjoy live music, food, and drinks, including shredded beef sandwiches and alcoholic beverages. There will be a door fee for entry.
Sandi Smith, one of the event organizers, shared details about the Odessa Car Show on Saturday, April 26, which will start at 10 a.m. with the first 20 pre-registered cars receiving goody bags.
The car show will feature various categories, including Best of Show, People’s Choice, and Best Muscle Car. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., and judging will occur at noon with awards presented at 1 p.m. “The car show benefits the kids,” Smith said. “All proceeds go back to the school.”
In addition to the quilt show, car show, and yard sales, the Fest Platz will offer special entertainment, food, and vendors, including Wild Roots, Das Kraut Haus, and the Odessa Town-Wide Yard Sale. The local FFA will also hold a plant sale.
