Thea Wenz waives right to speedy trial
ALMIRA — The fourth suspect connected to the January burglary of a residence in Almira has been formally charged and will stand trial in Lincoln County Superior Court, following another continuance filed Tuesday, April 22.
Thea Wenz, 27, of Moses Lake, pleaded not guilty to one count each of residential burglary, second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, and second-degree possession of stolen property during her arraignment. The prosecution requested standard release conditions.
Wenz, who resides with her grandparents, was appointed public defender Victoria Iverson. Her trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, with a readiness hearing set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 27.
According to court records, Wenz admitted to law enforcement that she was present during the burglary and witnessed others stealing items from the residence.
Three other suspects — Recardo E. Rocha, 32; Delila Ellen Reid, 51; and Jose Rafael Medina Lomeli, 28 — were previously charged in connection with the incident.
The burglary, reported on Jan. 9, involved the theft of multiple firearms, a Liberty safe, household items, and a Jeep.
Rocha’s case has been continued until June following his entry into a drug rehabilitation program. Reid and Medina Lomeli have both been sentenced, as previously reported by the Lincoln County Record-Times.
