Lowland lake fishing season opens Saturday

State requires anglers to have fishing license

DAVENPORT — The lowland lakes fishing season officially opens Saturday, April 26, across Washington state, including Lincoln County. While many area lakes are already open year-round, the season kickoff marks the beginning of one of the busiest times of year for local anglers.

“This is the lowland lake opener, not free fishing weekend,” said Jolynn Beauchene, Fish and Wildlife officer for Lincoln County. “You still need a valid fishing license.”

In Washington, anyone age 16 or older must have a fishing license. Youth age 15 are required to have a youth license, while children under 14 may fish...
